DECEMBER 2008 YOGA RETREAT - Geraldine Anderson from PURE YOGA, South Africa
I hosted a Yoga Retreat this past December in Tofo, Mozambique, Africa in conjunction with Halo Gaia.
Halo Gaia organises spiritual retreats through Mozambique and South Africa and have accommodation and a surfing school (Turtle Cove) in Tofo.
The Retreat was from the 15th – 22nd December and included: • Accommodation • Breakfast and Dinner • 2 Yoga classes per day
The majority of the students came from South Africa as well as many African countries, there were also a few international students that came for a few sessions.
The weather was fabulous, averaging from 28 degrees upwards. The ocean was beautiful as always and some of the students went on an ocean safari and spotted whalesharks as well as dolphins.
We started our day at 6.30am with a strong Yoga one hour and a half yoga class energising the students.
We would gather in the lounge and have breakfast and then everyone would wonder off and do their own thing whether it be learning to surf, lounging on the beach with a good book or explore the local Inhambane town.
Everyone would gather back at the Gaia Temple for their 5pm evening Yoga class which would be a gentle Yoga class incorporating restorative Asanas and relaxation or even a full hour of Yoga Nidra.
There after we would gather in the lounge for a delicious meal of which Turtle Cove caters for Vegeterians.
My students definitely left feeling very relaxed and restored and I highly recommend this Retreat as it is a wonderful way to be exposed to Africa as well as have to opportunity to YOGACISE.
